A diagnosis can bring answers—but it can also bring a whole new set of questions.
For a patient and their family, the healthcare journey can feel overwhelming.
At Healing Wings Foundation, we believe that no patient should have to navigate it alone.
Our Patient Advocacy & Support work focuses on helping bring the patient experience to the centre of healthcare conversations and connecting patients and families with appropriate support and pathways.
Because a diagnosis should be the beginning of support—not the end of the search.
From Diagnosis to Direction
We work towards creating a more connected patient journey—one where patients and families can better understand their next steps and access the right resources.
Every patient's journey is different. We seek to understand the challenges faced by patients and families, including their experiences with diagnosis, treatment and access to care.
A rare or complex diagnosis can make the healthcare system difficult to navigate. Our work aims to help patients and families identify appropriate healthcare pathways and relevant support options.
We work towards connecting patients with relevant healthcare professionals, institutions, Centres of Excellence, diagnostic resources and patient-support pathways, wherever appropriate.
Access to appropriate care can involve multiple challenges. We support initiatives that explore pathways towards diagnostic services, treatment support and patient access programmes.
Patient advocacy is also about ensuring that patients and families have a voice. We work to promote greater awareness of patient needs and encourage a more patient-centred approach to rare disease care.
The patient comes first.
Our approach is built around a simple principle:
Listen to the patient. Understand the need. Connect the right people. Work towards the right pathway.
We believe patient advocacy should go beyond awareness.
It should help create connections, conversations and practical pathways that can make the healthcare journey easier to navigate.
Ground initiatives dedicated to patient care development.
Healing Wings Foundation has conducted a Patient Advocacy Programme for Epidermolysis Bullosa patients at Sri Madhusudhan Sai Hospital, Bengaluru.
HWF has proposed working with the Government of Tamil Nadu to connect identified rare disease patients with Patient Access Programmes run by pharmaceutical organisations through a public-private partnership model.
Our patient-support vision is closely connected with initiatives around mass screening, patient identification, genetic testing and tele-genetic clinics under the Care for Rare programme.
